1- Identify two costs that you may need to consider when developing a new phone app and explain how these costs impact on the project. (6)
One cost to consider is the wages for the staff working on the app, these costs could be at an hourly, daily or monthly rate and then would come to an overall cost. These costs could impact the project as it could affect the total budget they have to spend on the app.
Another cost to consider would be the resources available for the staff to use, these resources would be computers to design/create the app, whiteboards to come up with ideas etc. If the staff have good up to date resources available to them, they'll be able to create a better app.
2- Identify one act of legislation that is applicable to the creation of a new national newspaper and explain what impact it has. (3)
The Copyright Act 1988 is applicable as they have to make sure they don't copy the design of other newspapers or the content, if another newspaper thinks they've copied their design, they could get fined and forced to change their design.
3- You have been offered a job as an apprentice for a company called Align Media. When they offered you the apprenticeship, you were required to sign a forgiving the intellectual property rights of any work you produce to Align Media.
Explain why you were required to sign this form. (3)
This is so i can't give my work to any other companies apart from Align Media as the form says that all work produced is given to them.
4- Identify one type of revenue stream that you could consider to make a website profitable and explain why this might be an effective method. (3)
One type of revenue stream that could bemused are pop-up ads on the websites, this could be effective as if the advert is successful, you can charge more money to have the adverts on the websites.
5- Identify two ethical issues that you would need to consider before your team develops ideas for a documentary on refugees. Explain how these will impact on the project. (8)
One ethical issue to be considered is ti make sure the documentary isn't harmful towards refugees, this will impact the project because if the viewers or refugees find it offensive, they would force the documentary to be stopped.
Another ethical issue when developing ideas is to make sure they don't include any thing too explicit, for example, death or harsh violence, this is because some people wouldn't be able to watch the documentary and then the documentary wouldn't become popular amongst the viewers and it may be forced to change.
6- Identify one regulatory body which could provide guidance with regard to creating a new advert for a children's charity. Explain your choice. (2)
The Advertising Standards Authority could provide guidance as they check every advert to judge if it is suitable to put on TV, and if they don't find it suitable, they'll explain why so you can change the advert to suit the ASA.
